This mod now utilizes PalSchema, and because of that, the old file MUST be uninstalled or it will overwrite current game files. To do this, locate your pak folder (Palworld\Pal\Content\Paks if you installed it according to my instructions) and delete TrueMonsterRancher.pak before continuing with the installation! After that, please
carefully read the installation instructions for PalSchema linked below, as it is likely to answer any questions you may have! Failure to do so may forfeit support from me.
First
install PalSchema as well as the UE4SS provided in the install instructions as both are required for this mod. Afterwards, simply open the downloaded .zip file from this mod using 7zip or a similar archival program and place the folder into your main Palworld folder. Do not place the .zip or the folder inside into any sub-directory, it will merge where it needs to be on it's own. Alternatively, installing with Vortex should work from TMR version 0.6.0.1 and above.
Compatibility
True Monster Rancher is compatible with most existing mods. However, it uses PalSchema to patch the "
DT_ItemLotteryDataTable" datatable, and could be incompatible with any mod that changes
the same lines in this file. In this case, the mod which loads first will have it's lines overwritten.
Complete Game Rebalance is one known mod to do this. It should not conflict with new lines, as my unique identifiers for new lines are very unlikely to be repeated. It can be installed on an existing world with no issues. It can be removed at any time. It has no known incompatibilities on a server, so long as it is installed on the server.
Bug Reports
Ensure you have installed
experimental-palworld UE4SS, as well as
PalSchema and this mod correctly and allowed the mod to run long enough. Pal Spheres being dropped by Vixy, for instance, is normal and does not mean the mod isn't working! Before posting if you think the mod is broken, try the following:
[list=1]
If you know how, find your UE4SS-settings.ini file inside the ue4ss folder. Change the 'GuiConsoleEnabled' and 'GuiConsoleVisible' values from a 0 to a 1 and restart the game. When launching the game, you should see a new window that
looks like this. In the box to the left of the 'Search log' text, type 'json' without quotes. If you see lines including 'Vixy.json', 'Caprity.json', etc then the mod was loaded properly and is working! Make sure to set the UE4SS-settings.ini values back if you don't like this window loading everytime.
If the above feels too challenging, locate your PalSchema\mods\True Monster Rancher\raw folder and open the Vixy.json file in a text editor such as Notepad. You will need an uncondensed Vixy for this part, but you should be able to quickly understand what is going on in these files and utilize the same concept for another Pal you already have access to if necessary. In the first field named "761" you will notice the FieldName is "CharacterSpawnItem_CuteFoxRank1". This correlates to a Vixy without any stars from condensing. Change the 'WeightInSlot' from 0.043 to 100.0 and change the 'StaticItemId' from "Bone" to "Cake". Relaunch the game and wait a few minutes with your Vixy in the ranch. It should drop a Cake within minutes, confirming the mod is working! Make sure to undo the changes (unless you really want guaranteed cake) afterwards.
Post if your issues continue after trying one (preferably both) of these steps.
FAQ / Known IssuesThe mod isn't working!
Ensure there hasn't been an installation issue. You must follow the PalSchema installation instructions step-by-step. Additionally, the .zip contains a mod folder that is meant to be unpacked, not placed into the game directory by itself. You must unpack it using 7zip or a similar archival program. Nitrado servers appear to have specific setups for modding, I would recommend switching to a better host, personally. If it is a dropped item issue, see below.

What are the differences between the different versions of the mod? What does Reduced Rates & Vixy Only mean?
The difference with each version is the drops or their rates. In Reduced Rates the rates are tweaked on all the new drops to prevent easy farming which could hurt the economy of a server. In the Vixy Only version of the mod, only Vixy drops have been changed. Finally, in Vixy Only + Reduced Rates version of the mod, only Vixy drops have been changed
and the rates are tweaked on all the new drops. You can see the specific differences on the
spreadsheet I created here.

My pal is only dropping certain items!First, make sure to walk over the dropped items and check what they are in the top-left. Some items - such as Spheres - always look like the lowest tier item. This is due to the way Palworld uses models - where every sphere on the ground looks like a Regular Pal Sphere - and has nothing to do with this mod. Assuming this isn't the issue, make sure you have at least waited for a fair amount of time (~15 real-world minutes) or tried one of the debugging steps under the Bug Reports section to ensure you are not simply getting unlucky. Report with a post only if the issue is persistant.
Can I install this on an existing world / server?
Yes. True Monster Rancher can be added or removed at any time within a singleplayer or multiplayer server.
Do all clients need it on a server?
No, only the server needs it installed.
Does this add item ___?
If it's not on the spreadsheet anywhere, then no.
Can you add item ___ to pal ___?
If it is not already on the spreadsheet and there isn't much logical reasoning for it (such as being a dropped item by that pal or closely related to a dropped item by that pal), then probably no. I prefer to keep things as close to vanilla as possible while making ranching more fun. You can, however, learn PalSchema and edit the contained .json files if you wish to make any Pal drop items to your hearts content!
Can you add a version of the mod with my preferred rates?
You'll have to learn how to modify PalSchema mods on your own.
A pal appears to be dropping items that are not displayed on it's drop tables! This probably indicates a compilation error. Please make a post and I will verify the issue and release a fix as soon as possible.
Can you add new pals to the ranch?
Coming soon, hopefully
